Youth Speak share their sentiments about abortion

“Abortion compounds the grief of many women who now carry with them deep physical and spiritual wounds after succumbing to the pressures of a secular culture which devalues God’s gift of sexuality and the right to life of the unborn,” the pope.(2014) He also mentioned that human life was inviolable and abortion was an “unspeakable crime.” Yes so many countries have taken abortion lightly and have allowed it to be legalized due to various factors. Subjective as the issue may be its best to listen to the minds of the future.

Most recently the pope spoke to the youth ahead of 2018 synod that the church wishes to listen to their voices. In that respect he said, “By listening to young people, the Church will once again hear the Lord speaking in today’s world. Listening to their aspirations, the Church can glimpse the world which lies ahead and the paths the Church is called to follow.”

If the pregnancy is a result of rape abortion may be justified since the baby will remain a constant reminder of the unfortunate and brutal incident but at the end it all depends on the emotional state of the mother, whether she is strong enough to deal with it, but if she is emotionally fragile abortion may be justified

The long and short of this is that that just like stealing which cannot be justified for whatsoever reason so should abortion.

The issue of abortion is very subjective, but I personally believe that for the greater good of the better part that is the mother and the unborn child, if the pregnancy poses dangers to the mother’s health and life then and only then should abortion be considered an option.

As much as we may want to justify the reasons behind what may be called a ‘justifiable’ abortion I personally think that it is murder because both the mother and the unborn child have the right to life and after all who is the judge to determine who has the right to life between the mother and the unborn baby.

Under no circumstances does one have the right to take another’s life in our Religion. #Christianity

If abortion is as a result of trying to do away with the products of so called “pleasure” it should not at all be justified, because come to think of the many marriages which are about to collapse because of failure to conceive and one just decides to abort!!! Imagine now if later you are unable to conceive to you cry to God for forsaking you or you will only have yourself to blame.

From the Desk

We say if the child is a product of rape then abortion is justifiable, but have we considered the number of children who were born under harsh circumstances who have accomplished greatness. When Miss Pennsylvania 2014, Valerie Gatto, was 10-years-old she found out that she had been conceived by rape. Gatto’s mother was 19-years-old when she was raped at knifepoint. When Gatto was in the third grade her mother told her, “Something bad happened to me. A very bad man hurt me, but God gave me you.” Today, Gatto is an advocate for sexual assault awareness, traveling the country to talk to women about how to protect themselves against violence and sexual aggression. When on The Today Show she said, “I believe God put me here for a reason: to inspire people, to encourage them, to give them hope that everything is possible and you can’t let your circumstances define your life.”

Should we also not consider not aborting these babies but rather giving them up for adoption to those who seek the cry of a baby in their marriages? As much as the baby might serve as a constant reminder of the brutal event, let us not forget that the baby is innocent in all this so why should it be made to suffer for a crime it did not commit.

The youth must speak out and make a difference in the world. “Make your voice heard,” the pope told young people. “Let it resonate in communities and let it be heard by your shepherds of souls
