Project Scope

The project aims at implementing interventions focused on improving food security, livelihood protection systems and access to water, sanitation and hygiene practices through enhanced training and support on sustainable agricultural practices, value chain and market linkages; financial inclusion, water and sanitation infrastructure and hygiene education.


Agriculture and Livelihood Officer

Caritas seeks to recruit a highly qualified, experienced, innovative and self-motivated individual who will work with different stakeholders in the district to successfully implement project activities to achieve desired objectives. The Officer will provide technical leadership, guidance and capacity strengthening to smallholder farmers, liaising with relevant government ministries and other technical experts in the field of agricultural-based livelihoods. The position will also liaise with private sector partners to deliver the market optimization model.


Competencies and experience

Degree in Agriculture/Agricultural Economics/Livelihoods/Crop Science or relevant field with minimum 3 years’ experience. Experience working in the NGO environment highly preferred.

Basic understanding of conservation agriculture, small grains production, horticulture, value chains and savings and internal lending communities techniques. High level interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships and identify, communicate with stakeholders. Certificate in project management and or monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.  A clean Driver’s and or motorbike riding license.
